• Leslie Segars has been the owner/manager/trainer at Segars Stables since 2002. She grew up riding in the Atlanta area, competing on the Local GHJA circuit under trainers like Kathy Jones, Sunny Stevens, and Druanne Roberts. She began her teaching career at the age of 18, teaching for lesson programs and conducting her own summer camps. Using her degree in Animal Science Equine from the University of Georgia, Leslie excels in teaching excellent foundational skills to young riders as well as horsemanship.  During her early professional years, Leslie also taught science at Duluth Middle School after obtaining a teaching certificate from Oglethorpe University as well as working in Sales at Manna Pro Feed Company.

In 2002, Leslie decided to open up her own barn.  She has taught riders of all levels (beginners through J.D. Pounds) to ride competitively on the local circuit. She also conducts several summer camps each year that cater to new as well as returning riders. Leslie has also participated in the Georgia Special Olympics the past two years.  Segars’ Stables is known for having excellent and safe schooling horses and ponies that teach lessons as well as compete in the local horse shows.

With three young children of her own, Leslie’s goal in creating Segars’ Stables was to provide clients with a family-friendly atmosphere where riders could safely learn the do’s and don’ts of proper horse management and care.  Segars’ prides itself on creating riders who are capable of comprehensively caring for their horses as well as riding them. Each student is taught how to provide daily care, first aid, nutrition, and conditioning under the watchful eye of Leslie, who lives on the property.
